Pavitra Sriprakash, Chennai, Indien
Pavitra Sriprakash is an architect and urban designer with a focus
on Sustainability. She is the Chief Designer and Director at The
Global Design Studio of Shilpa Architects which is an acclaimed
design house that draws inspiration from cultural values that
are distinctly rooted in the sub-continent, fusing vernacular
methods with modern design and construction practices. Having
practiced urban design and planning in New York and Chicago,
Pavitra’s work has been India focused since 2008.
She has designed projects across India, and has also delivered
on projects in the United States of America, Norway, Japan,
China and Kuwait as part of SGBL Studio, Shilpa’s International
Urban Design Studio. She is an expert in sustainability and has
completed research in Columbia University on Sustainable Programmatic
Landscapes and the interface between architecture
and landscape design in planning robust urban spaces.
She has a Masters in Architecture and Urban Design from The
Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation
at Columbia University in New York City and a Bachelor Degree
in Architecture from The School of Architecture and Planning,
Anna University, Chennai. She is currently the head of The
Chennai Chapter of Columbia University’s Alumni Association.
She is an accomplished Bharathyanatyam Dancer & an artist.
